Riverside Park is a great outdoor wedding venue in Swift Current.
The large space offers so many options for where to situate your ceremony, and the amenities make it easy for guests to attend.
After coordinating a few weddings in Riverside Park, here’s my take on the pros and cons of this location.
PROS
Space
With so much park space, there are really endless options of how to lay out your wedding space. If you’d like to be under the trees, you can pick a spot that’s cozy. If you’d like to be out in the open, there’s lots of room for that too, and the trees make a lovely backdrop.
Amenities
Bathrooms and parking on site make it simple for your guests to attend. And if you’re having a break between the ceremony and reception there are lots of things for them to stick around and do.
Photos
Being right next to the creek, you can quickly get to some really lovely spots for pictures. Snap a few with your family right in the park, and then take a short walk along the creek for some more intimate couples and wedding party shots.
CONS
Public Space
While you can book the park for your wedding, it is still open to the public. I have never seen this be a problem. People have always been polite and careful not to get in the way while I’ve been in the park. That being said, it can get pretty busy there on a summer weekend. So be prepared that other people will be around the area.
Backup Plan
Obviously this is an outdoor venue, which means you need a bad weather backup plan. It is possible to set up a tent on the lawn at the park, but you will need to have a line locate done ahead of time. There is no permanent structure available.
THE BOTTOM LINE
Riverside Park is a great outdoor wedding venue in Swift Current! The city is great to work with, the space is great, and there’s lots of parking. Just be aware that you are outdoors, and in a public park.
